A creamy and cheesy potato gratin that is deliciously bubbly and crispy, making it a perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
  3. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; bring to a simmer.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour half the cream mixture over, and sprinkle half the cheeses on top.
  5. Add the remaining potatoes and pour the rest of the cream mixture over.
  6. Top with the remaining cheeses and dot with butter.
  7. Bake for 45-60 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped herbs like thyme or rosemary.
  • Let the gratin sit for 10 minutes before serving for better slicing.
