2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup whole milk
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add these dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and over the top of the cake.
Notes
For an extra touch, add some sea salt on top of the caramel.
This cake can be decorated with whipped cream or nuts for added flavor.
