Mozzarella Stuffed Soft Pretzels

Delicious homemade mozzarella stuffed soft pretzels that are easy to make and incredibly indulgent.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered with a damp cloth.
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions, flatten each piece, and place cheese in the center, sealing the edges.
  7. In a small pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
  8. Drop each pretzel in the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  9. Brush each pretzel with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a sweeter pretzel, sprinkle with coarse salt before baking.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
