Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before serving.
